Alice in Wonderland – LEAP: Studio Stage

February 5, 2018

4:30pm - 6:30pm

Alice in Wonderland

Journey down the rabbit hole with the fantastical world of Alice in Wonderland. This adaption of the Broadway play is a non-musical and features Lewis Carroll’s classic Wonderland characters.

ABOUT LEAP: Studio Stage

SST is delighted to offer our first performance training program for Middle School theatre artists. Students work in a small cohort alongside a teaching artist director to explore performance skills in-depth with group & 1-on-1 coaching. This fast-paced interdisciplinary training program focuses on acting and performance skills, with an emphasis on learning vocabulary and technique using scripted material. Rehearsal process focuses on building an inclusive ensemble of peers dedicated to re-imagining a well-known story for the stage.

An extension of our summertime musical theatre program, LEAP: Studio Stage focuses on staging productions in a small “black box” theatre space where students are heavily involved in all facets of the production including blocking and the minimalistic approach to set, prop, and costume construction.

PREREQUISITE

None! Middle school students of all experience levels are encouraged to register. This program is open to students in Grade 5 through Grade 9.

AUDITIONS

No audition to participate. An audition process to assign roles will be held during the first week of rehearsal.  Students of all experience levels are welcome. This class is ideal for beginners interested in a scripted play experience and for those who are ready to make the leap from theatre classes to mainstage productions in their school or community. Our goal is to build skills and confidence for all young artists, including students who are beginners.

Please note: Enrollment in this boot camp does not guarantee casting in a mainstage production.
