All Day: Lego Adventure & Beat Boxing + Creative Movement + Mask Making

Lego Adventure

Every kid loves Legos and adventures! Based on the classic toy franchise, Legos, make your own adventure story as you collaborate with your peers to create and perform an original play. Under the guidance our professional teaching artists, gain a deeper understanding of theatre as you work together to develop the plot, characters, lines, and staging. Perform your play for family and friends at the end of camp.

> Final Performance will be held on Friday, June 30 at 11:00am.

Beat Boxing

Spend an hour each afternoon learning the musical art form: Beat Boxing. Lead by local beat boxing and hip-hop artist Terrell Woods, explore rhythm and musicality during this workshop-style class.

Creative Movement

Spend an hour each afternoon learning how to move in new and different ways. Experiment with physicality, explore the way animals and objects maneuver, and play movement games during this workshop-style class.

Mask Making

Spend an hour each afternoon learning the art of Mask Making. Build various styles of masks and bring them to life through acting exercises during this workshop-style class.

>There will be no final performance for these workshops.

>This camp includes 1 hour of supervised lunch & recess. Lunch is not provided.

ALL DAY: CAP + BYS

This is a FULL DAY Program

Pair our morning Create-a-Play (CAP) class with our afternoon Build Your Skills (BYS) class for a well-rounded week of theatre immersion. This program includes one hour of supervised lunch and recess in addition to a morning & afternoon snack break. Please pack a lunch, water bottle, and two snacks.

Create-a-Play

Create and perform an original play. Work collaboratively with your peers on developing the story, setting, characters, dialogue, and staging. Our Teaching Artists help you gain an understanding of theatre as you explore concepts like idea contribution, ensemble work, story structure, character choices, and theatre vocabulary. Perform your play for family and friends on the final day of class!

THEATRE LEARNING IN GRADES 1-3 LOOKS LIKE:

  • Expressing individual ideas that contribute to a larger group concept
  • Learning theatre concepts like vocabulary & story structure
  • Making physical and vocal choices to express a character

Build Your Skills

Develop your theatre technique in these skill-based, workshop-style classes. Explore Acting, Dancing, Singing, Music, Movement, technical skills like Stage Makeup or Puppetry and much more. Lead by specialized teaching artists, these afternoon workshops pair perfectly with our morning Create-a-Play classes for a well-rounded week of theatre immersion.

SKILL-BASED LEARNING IN GRADES 1-3 LOOKS LIKE:

  • Learning skill-specific vocabulary & concepts at an age-appropriate level
  • Understand concepts though warm-ups, games, exercises, and explorations
  • Revisiting & building-upon concepts to eventually achieve mastery
