Create Your Own Mystery Thriller

Harriet the Spy, Scooby Doo, Boxcar Children, Sherlock, Nancy Drew, Goosebumps… if you love solving mysteries, then you’ll love creating your own mystery/thriller play. Discuss & contribute ideas as you collaborate with your peers on developing stories, settings, characters, dialogue, and staging. Our Teaching Artists help you gain an understanding of theatre as you explore concepts like stylistic choices, ensemble work, story structure, character development, and theatre vocabulary. Perform your original work for family and friends on the final day of class!


Dialects Workshop: Understand the vowel, consentient, and word changes that create different dialects. Try-out different accents like Southern, British, or Australian.

Stage Combat Workshop: Understand how they make the fighting on stage and in movies look real. Learn introductory stage technique for safety, falls, hand-to-hand, and sword.


> Final Performance will be held on Friday at 3:00pm.
> Included in this program will be one hour of supervised lunch and recess in addition to a morning & afternoon snack break. Please pack a lunch, water bottle, and two snacks.

Explore Performance

Create and perform an original play which integrates a specific style of theatre. Discuss & contribute ideas as you collaborate with your peers on developing the story, setting, characters, dialogue, and staging. Our Teaching Artists help you gain an understanding of theatre as you explore concepts like stylistic choices, ensemble work, story structure, character development, and theatre vocabulary. Perform your original work for family and friends on the final day of class!

Each afternoon, expand your theatre know-how in two workshop-style classes. Delve deep into theatre technique which will help inform and enhance your original play as well as your own performance abilities.

THEATRE LEARNING IN GRADES 4-6 LOOKS LIKE:

  • Integrating performance styles
  • Rich collaboration – discussing & contributing ideas to enhance performance
  • Considering how different physical and vocal choices create unique characters
