Once Upon a Time…

January 28, 2017

9:00am - 11:00am

SATURDAYS, January 28- March 18

Grades: K-2
Time: 9:00am-11:00am

“Once Upon a Time…” begins some of our most beloved tales. Now it’s your turn to write the story! Inspired by this age-old fairytale intro, collaborate with your class to create an original play and learn how to put it on stage. Develop the plot, characters, lines, and staging. Perform your play for family and friends at the end of the session.

> Final Performance will be held on Saturday, March 18th.

Create a Play is SteppingStone’s introduction to devised theatre where young Artists collaborate on an original performance using their own ideas for story, character, dialogue and setting. Supported by a SST Teaching Artist, each class learns skills in theatre elements like acting through voice and movement, improvisation and exploring different expressive styles.

Young Artists practice expressing individual ideas and making choices for characters and using sound and movement to tell a group story in a guided drama experience.

Young Artists focus on story structure considering plot and setting, exploring character motivation as well as designing/building costumes, props and sets for characters in drama/theatre work.
