Spark your child’s curiosity with sensory exploration and art-making! Start with an active storytime: bringing books to life through creative drama, songs and hands-on sensory engagement. Then, the space transforms into an interactive art, sensory, and gross-motor playscape for children to explore at their own pace. Children learn how to use new and familiar materials, gain confidence in their art-making abilities, and create social interactions with their peers, in a safe and child-centered environment.
Activities/themes are subject to change

Wednesday, October 30 – Mixed Media Owl Puppets
Children design and construct their own owl puppets using a varied selection of art materials. Inspired by the book, “Owl Babies” by Martin Waddell, we’ll look (and listen) to images of owls in the wild. Children will use materials like feathers, corrugated cardboard, paper shapes, and paint sticks to make their original owl characters. We’ll see how our owl puppets look on the big shadow screen and experiment with color and light on an overhead projector! Build a giant home for your puppet using fabric, pillows and your imagination. Teaching Artist: Megan
Wednesday, November 6 – It’s FALL!
We’ll read the book, “Its Fall” by Linda Glaser and explore possibilities for art-making with materials we find outside! Explore fall colors with tempera cake painting and clay/water in the sensory bin! Teaching Artist: Kiera
