The Lion King Experience Jr.
Bring the African savanna to life in a production that has captivated audiences around the world.
Follow the adventures of Simba, a young lion who is to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands. When Simba’s uncle Scar kills Mufasa, Simba is manipulated into thinking he was responsible and flees into exile where he meets and befriends two jungle residents, Timon and Pumba. Over time, Simba is given some valuable perspective from his childhood friend, Nala, his shaman, Rafiki, and his mentor, Zazu. Once grown, Simba returns to challenge Scar and take his place in the Circle of Life as the rightful King. ABOUT LEAP: Musical
LEAP: Musical offers middle school artists, of all experience levels, an opportunity to be immersed in the art-making of theatre. Students spend their days in rehearsal for The Lion King Jr, actively participating in staging, dance, and music rehearsals, set, prop, & costume design, and character development process. At the end of the program, students will perform their musical complete with basic set, props, costumes, and lighting, on SteppingStone’s Main Stage.
PREREQUISITES & AUDITIONS
Registration open to students who have completed grades 6-9. Please register for the grade your student has just completed in Spring 2019. Due to restrictions by our licensing provider, we cannot admit students who do not fall into this age-range.
No prerequisites or auditions to participate. An audition process to assign roles will be held during the first rehearsal. Students will be prepped for the entire audition process during class. No need to prepare an audition in advance. You will be asked to rank your confidence level in singing, dancing, and acting before the audition. Some roles may be double-cast. Due to time constraints, we cannot teach pitch matching to students who cannot sing in groups. However, we will make sure every student has a meaningful learning experience during the program. Our goal is to build skills and confidence for all young artists, including students who are beginners.
