THEATRE LEARNING IN GRADES 4-6 LOOKS LIKE:

  • Making specific physical and vocal choices to express unique styles of performance
  • Rich collaboration – discussing & contributing ideas to enhance performance
  • Giving attention to how intentional reflection on artistic work

Create and perform an original musical as you build skills in acting, singing, and dancing. Discuss & contribute ideas as you collaborate with your peers on developing the story, setting, characters, dialogue, staging, lyrics, and choreography. Explore concepts like stylistic choices, ensemble work, story structure, character development, and theatre vocabulary. Throughout the process-driven creative class experience, you’ll engage in theatre games and activities that hone your skills. Perform your original work for family and friends on the final day of class!

Thus They Speak!

GRADES 6-12
Work with your peers to write and stage an original play inspired by the heroic figures of ancient Greek theatre. Directed by two teaching artists, you’ll be introduced to concepts like greek chorus, mask work, and story structure. LEAP: Studio Stage is an intensive Performance Training Program for Middle & High School theatre artists who are eager to begin auditioning for productions at school or in their community.
