6 p.m. Cocktail Hour
7 p.m. Cabaret Performance
Join us for the second annual SteppingStone Cabaret evening to support SteppingStone’s mission! Let’s celebrate and raise funds for the place devoted to creating transformative arts experiences with youth in the East Metro. The evening will begin with a cocktail hour with complimentary drinks and nibbles. After that, local legends Ansa Akyea, director of SteppingStone’s 2019 production of Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters, and Erin Schwab, director of the upcoming Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr., will host the main event. During the Cabaret, we will hear from families who have discovered community, friendship, and belonging at SteppingStone. Please join us for this heartfelt and inspiring evening of music!
Ansa is a versatile actor, director, and collaborator. A graduate of the University of Iowa’s Masters of Fine Arts Acting program, Ansa has worked throughout the country and locally at some of the finest regional theaters from the Guthrie Theater, Mixed Blood, Penumbra, Ten Thousand Things, Kansas city rep, Barrington stages and many others. Ansa can also be seen and heard on film, radio, and television. Ansa is the recipient of a TCG Fox fellowship, a Minnesota Playwright Center’s McKnight Award for Acting, named Citypages Best Actor Award 2007, and the 2013 Minnesota Playwright Center’s Many Voices Fellowship, and an Ivey Award recipient. Ansa most recently directed Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters for SteppingStone Theatre, and is grateful for the opportunity.
Erin Schwab knows how to work a song–and an audience. She’s built that up over a career in musical theater with the likes of Tina ‘n’ Tony’s Wedding and the national tour of School House Rock Live! That experience allows her to tackle just about anything under the sun, from covers of tunes by the Police to a selection from Avenue Q to originals based on her years as a working performer. Most recently, Erin was seen as King Herod in The Ordway’s Jesus Christ Superstar.
She lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with her husband, Director and Theatrical Producer Michael Todaro, and daughter.
